Filed in Miami federal court, the lawsuit targets the wide-ranging immigration policies enacted by Florida earlier this year at the behest of Gov. Ron DeSantis.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Several groups sued the DeSantis administration Monday over Florida’s latest anti-immigration law, arguing that it “inflicts enormous harm on people’s ability to go about their daily lives.”

Filed in Miami federal court, the lawsuit targets the wide-ranging immigration policies enacted by Florida earlier this year at the behest of Gov. Ron DeSantis, a Republican presidential candidate who regularly criticizes how President Joe Biden is dealing with the surge of migrants crossing into the U.S. at the southern border.

In challenging the new law, the groups are seeking to block the state from enforcing it on the grounds that it could impede federal immigration authorities and lead to “unlawful arrest, prosecution, and harassment.”
